Using either email or sms you can access almost all the services available through the web browser. This page outlines how to access these services using text commands.

Command Syntax

Essentially, you need to compose a text that consists of the following format.

[Keyword  <Parameter Value 1> <Parameter Value 2>]

You must place the parameter values in the right sequence. CourServ allows you to abbreviate Keywords by using just enough characters to make the Keyword unique from other Keywords. For example, you can abbreviate the transfer Keyword to tr.

The text command can then be sent as sms to CourServ SMS Gateway Number or as an email to the CourServ Email Gateway. If an email is being used the text the text must be placed in the body. An email subject is not necessary. After sending the text, a response from CourServ is usually returned to you within 10 seconds.

text command must be sent from your registered mobile telephone or email address. The mobile number or email address is used to identify the sender.

In the case of an sms reply, a reply sms can only be sent if there are adequate credits in your account. CourServ will not acknowledge any text commands received from any unregistered mobile number or email address.

Email Text Command

The email text command allows you send email to someone using SMS. Although this feature is supported by almost all mobile network operators, CourServ goes a bit further by allowing your trusted contacts to respond to you by an email at anytime without being registered with CourServ. This is useful when you are on the move and your contacts need to keep in touch with you. You will need to set up your contacts on your account.

This service is totally free to our members. This Text Command can only be done through SMS from a registered mobile phone.

The format consists of the email address of the recipient plus the text that needs to be sent. Example:

[user@xyz.com I will be home late]

Sms text command

The sms text command allows the user to send one sms to one or many people at the same time. This text command has several purposes;

  1. Allows the broadcasting of one sms to many people
  2. Allows for the sending of sms without revealing your Mobile Number
  3. Allows sms to be sent using your pre-defined contact names. A name can be for a group or a person
  4. Allows the recipient to receive the sms at a specific time.

There are two formats; A simple or a more complex format

The simple format consists of the destination mobile number in the international telephone format plus the text. Example;

[18769999999 will be home late]

The more general format consists of the sms text command, an optional time, the the Mobile Number, A contact name, or a group name and then the Text that will be sent to the contacts. The time determine when the text will be sent to person or persons. If the time is required it must be just after the sms keyword.

Examples of the use of the general sms text command are:

  1. [sms 18769999999 will be home late]SMS will be sent to +18769999999
  2. [sms peter pick up danny]SMS will be sent to contact peter.
  3. [sms committee the meeting is 7:30pm today]SMS will be sent to all persons on Group Committee
  4. [sms 0630 committee remember the meeting at 7:30pm today]SMS will be sent to all persons in Group at 6:30am

Bible Verse Text Command

The Bible Verse text command allows the user to send or receive random Bible Verses through email or SMS. It is entirely free to get Random Bible Verses through Email.

The format for the text command is [verse <Email Address or Mobile Number>]

Examples of the Verse Text Command are:

  1. [verse ] receive a random bible verse. If the text command is sent by email you will receive the random bible verse free of charge. If the sender is from a Mobile Phone, CourServ will charge the necessary SMS credits.
  2. [verse user@domain.com] Send a random bible verse to email address user@domain.com. CourServ will not charge for sending to an email address.
  3. [verse 18763819999] Send a random bible verse to the mobile number +18763819999. CourServ will charge the necessary SMS credits.
  4. [v 18763819999] Same as above.

Fax text command

The fax text command allows the user to send a web page to a fax machine. This Text Command is only applicable with SMS.

The format consists of the fax keyword plus an optional time, the fax number and the webpage.

Examples of the fax text command are:
  1. [fax 18769999999 yahoo] Send fax of webpage yahoo to 18769999999
  2. [fax john google] Send fax of webpage google to fax number for john.
  3. [fax 1130 john google] Send fax of webpage google to fax number for john at 11:30am

Note that the webpages must be configured in your account.

Call Text Command

The Call text command allows the user to trigger a telephone call between two telephone handsets using SMS or Email.

The format consists of [call <destination number> <local number>], Both the destination and the local number must conform to the international telephone format.

Instead of using the actual telephone numbers you can also use contact names. For a contact name they are possible four numbers that can be selected. To select a particular number the name must be appended by -m, -h, -w or -f ,where -m represents the mobile number of the contact, -h represents the home number, -w represents the work number and -f represents the fax number. If the contact name is not appended then by default the mobile number will be selected.

Examples of the use of the call text command are:

  1. [call 18769999999 2663144444], The first number is the destination number and the second number is the caller number
  2. [call 18769999999], 18769999999 is the destination number. The caller number is the Mobile Number
  3. [call peter-h john-w], The destination number is the home number for peter, while the caller number is the work number for john
  4. [call peter], The destination number is the mobile number for peter. The caller number is the Mobile Number that being used to send the SMS.

Call Rate Text Command

The Call Rate text command allows the user to get the Call rate per Minute for call between two telephone numbers using SMS or Email.

The format consists of [rate <destination number> <local number>], Both the destination and the local number must conform to the international telephone format.

Examples of the use of the call rate text command are:

  1. [rate 18769999999 2663144444], The first number is the destination number and the second number is the caller number
  2. [rate 18769999999], 18769999999 is the destination number. The caller number is the Mobile Number

The balance text command allows you to receive your account balance. You just simple need to the send the text balance to either the sms gateway or the email gateway.

Transfer text command

The transfer text command allows a user to transfer credits to another user. This text command is different from the "Credit" text command in that it transfers the Credits to the General Account of the user.

The format is [transfer <mobile number/email address> <amount of Credits>]

Examples of the transfer text are:

  1. [transfer 18767777777 150]Send 150 Credits to the general Account of the user with Mobile Number 18767777777
  2. [transfer xyz@ghj.com 50]Send 50 Credits to general Account of the user with email address xyz@ghj.com
  3. [tr xyz@ghj.com 100]Send 100 Credits to general Account of the user with email address xyz@ghj.com

Once the transfer text is accepted by CourServ a message will be sent to both the sender and recipient that confirms the transaction. This Text Command can only be done with SMS.

Credit text command

The Credit text command is similar to the transfer in that it transfers credits to another user. The difference is that it is used specifically to transfer credits to the Call Account of the user.

The format is [credit <mobile number/email address> <amount of Credits>]

Examples of the credit text command are:

  1. [credit 18767777777 150]Send 150 Credits to the call account of the user with Mobile Number 18767777777
  2. [credit xyz@ghj.com 50]Send 50 Credits to the call account of the user with email address xyz@ghj.com
  3. [cr 1876777777 100]Send 100 Credits to the call account of the user with Mobile Number 18767777777

Once the sms is accepted by CourServ a message will be sent to both the sender and recipient that confirms the transaction. This Text Command can only be done with SMS.

Move text command

The Move text command is used to move credits between the general account and the call account. If the amount in the text is positive the credits are moved to the call account, likewise if the credits are negative the amount is move from the call account to the general account.

The format is [move <amount of Credits>]

Examples of the Move text are:

  1. [move 150]Move 150 Credits from the general account to the call account.
  2. [move -47]Move 47 from the call account to the general account

You can use either email or sms.

Exchange text command

The Exchange text command allows you to get the conversion amount from one currency to another. It is also possible to convert between the CourServ Credits and a Foreign Currency.

The general format is [exchange <Amount> <From Currency> <To Currency>

When the text is received, CourServ will send a text with the amount in the "To Currency". The "To Currency" is optional. When the "To Currency" is not included, CourServ will convert the amount to Credits.

Examples of the Exchange text command are:

  1. [exchange 50 USD]Convert 50 US Dollar to CourServ Credits
  2. [ex 50 USD GBP]Convert 50 US Dollar to Pound Sterling
  3. [ex 50 GBP USD]Convert 50 Pound Sterling to US Dollar

Reply text command

The Reply text command allows you to reply to an sms that was sent to you via CourServ. This will ensure that your message is returned to the sender without knowing the sender's mobile number or email address. The text command consists of the reply Keyword plus the special text to be sent.

An example of a reply text is show below:

[reply thanks for the info]

The reply text command is only needed if your mobile is registered with courserv. Unregistered Mobile phones are allowed to reply to an sms that was sent through courserv without using the reply Keyword.

Register text command

The Register command allows you to register yourself or someone by using SMS. This command cannot be used with Email. When used to register yourself you only need to send an sms with the word Register to the gateway. To register someone you send the text [register <mobile number of person>] to the gateway. When you register someone you automatically become a referree of the person. This allows you to earn credits whenever the person uses the system.

Examples of the Register command are:

  1. [register ]register yourself using sms.
  2. [register 26771888888]Register someone with the Mobile Number 26771888888

Book Text Command

The book text command allows you to book a taxi.

The format is [book <Pickup Place> <Destination> <Time> <comments> ] where Pickup Place and Destination represent either of three possibilities;

  • keyword of predefined Place
  • keyword of a customised Place
  • Plot Number

The part of the keyword for a place can entered. The important issue is that it must uniquely identify only one place.

Examples are:

  • [book work 19999]
    book a trip for the earliest time from work to 19999 where work is a customised place for your workplace and 19999 is a plot number.
  • [book home work 7:00]
    book a trip at 7:00 from home to work where both home and work are customised places.
  • [book home work 7:00 Red gate at corner]
    same as above but with comments Red gate at corner sent to the driver.
  • [book river 19999/99]
    book a trip for the earliest time from river to 19999/99 where river is the keyword for River Walk and 19999 is a plot number with flat 99.
  • [book river 19999/99 Beside Nando]
    Same as above but with the Comments Beside Nando sent to the Taxi Driver.

Pickup Text Command

The Pickup Text command allows you to get the Status of a particular Taxi Pickup.

The format is [pickup <Pickup ID>] where Pickup ID represent the ID of a Pickup that was generated from a taxi booking that you made.

Examples are:

  • [pickup xxx ]
    The Status of the Pickup with ID xxx will be sent.
  • [pickup ]
    The Status of the last generated pickup will be sent.

Cancel Text Command

The Cancel Text command allows you to cancel a specified Pickup.

The format is [cancel <Pickup ID>] where Pickup ID represent the ID of a Pickup that you would like to cancel. A Pickup can only be cancelled if it has not reached the Committed state.

Examples are:

  • [cancel xxx ]
    The Pickup with ID xxx will be cancelled.
  • [cancel]
    The last generated pickup will be cancelled.
